Frequently Asked Questions

  • How big is GolfFox.net?
  • GolfFox.net has over 16,000 courses in its database, displaying over 17,000 photos.
  • Why should I create a free GolfFox.net account?
  • Creating a GolfFox.net account lets you contribute to the site (write a review, upload photos, etc.) and is also a requirement for booking tee times.
  • I don't see ads on the site. How do you guys make money?
  • We consider advertising, but it's hard to do it without junking up the site. For now, GolfFox.net is largely privately funded, but we also bring in some auxillary income from tee time sales.
  • I can't find the course I'm looking for.
  • If you're sure you spelled it right, and you can't find it when searching a different way, then please tell us what course is missing, and we will look into it.
  • You can search by Airport abbr., Course Name, City, St, or Zip. Common words like golf, course, and the are unnecessary.

You can also filter search results by what type of course they are (e.g. public, private, resort, or military).
  • How is the order of search results determined?
  • First, by relevance, then by rating. If two courses match your search criteria equally, the course with the higher rating will be displayed on top.
  • How does airport search work?
  • So if you're flying into Dallas/Ft. Worth Intl., you can type "dfw" into the search box, and you will get back all courses within 25 miles of DFW airport, sorted by rating. You can also click the sort-by-distance" link to sort by the closest courses to the airport.
  • How can I improve my course(s) rating/position on the search results page?
  • The short answer: by improving your golf course. GolfFox.net is designed to authentically grade a course, especially in comparison to peer courses.
  • How are course ratings determined?
  • The average user rating sorted by the number of reviews. For instance, for two courses with equal relevance to your search, a course with an average rating of 3.5 stars from 15 reviews will list above a course with an average rating of 3.5 stars from 5 reviews.
  • Why do I have to log in to change course information?
  • We realize requiring authenticated users for site contributions is an inconvenience, but believe it or not, there are malicious internet-surfers out there who would love nothing more than to spam our servers with gibberish and really slow down our site. By requiring a login, we force them to provide valid email addresses and, in doing so, weed out the great majority.
